Description

Hi.
Tried to search in the open issues but could not find someone asking it before so, here it is.
I would like to request an auto-updater to be implemented in the program in the future when possible of course.

Impact

Make things easier in the UX side.
Nowadays, we have to go in the GH page and download via assets a new version when it came out... same as at the site ? ...
I'm really not sure about the latter one 'cause I do use more GH often then any other.

So a auto-updater would be interesting.
For example like the emulators do a modal window like below.

or however you guys think it should be would be acceptable as well.

I'm only doing a suggestion here.

Oh looks like it is a duplicate here. 😑
If you want, close this one. Maybe.

Are you able to manually check for updates in Appflowy? If so how do you do it?

It's been a year since this Issue and I haven't seen any improvement in this issue, does this mean I need to uninstall the software before I can install the new version? That's too sad😰

Actually, you don't have to uninstall the software before installing a new version. When you install a new version, the old one will be updated.

My testing on Windows 10 shows that using the new installer suggests that my installation directory is placed in C:\Program Files (x86)\AppFlowy, rather than where I had previously version installed path(e.g. E:\InstalledSoftware\AppFlowy).
I'm not for sure that it would have made the two versions coexist if I hadn't manually selected the installation directory to overwrite.
I don't think this is a good experience for me 😑 @khorshuheng
