Bug Description

After updating AppFlowy and reinstalling (which caused loss of local data), I tried to restore my workspace from a locally exported backup zip.
The backup was created via Manage Data -> Backup your workspace on desktop.

  • Local import: I found that importing the backup on desktop does not work.
  • Cloud import: I logged into AppFlowy Cloud Beta and tried Manage Data -> Import your workspace by dragging the backup zip into the upload area, but the import/upload failed.

I received an official email:

Workspace import failed
Please check the error message below for more details.
Task ID: 4f70d07e-0f38-4d85-88bd-3c496238f05c - Internal error: Failed after 1 attempts: Record not found:blob not found

How to Reproduce

  1. On AppFlowy desktop, export a workspace backup zip:
    • Manage Data -> Backup your workspace
  2. (Optional context) Update AppFlowy and reinstall (local data was lost; only the backup zip remained).
  3. Try importing the backup zip on desktop (fails).
  4. Log into AppFlowy Cloud Beta.
  5. Go to:
    • Manage Data -> Import your workspace
  6. Drag & drop the exported backup zip to upload/import.
  7. Import fails and a failure email is sent with Record not found: blob not found.

Expected Behavior

The backup zip should import successfully and the workspace should be restored (either locally or in AppFlowy Cloud Beta).

Operating System

Windows 11 25H2

AppFlowy Version(s)

-0.11.1 - 0.10.8

@1617574886, did you turn on the VPN mode? I can import your workspace from my side.

@LucasXu0 , yes — I must use a VPN, otherwise I can’t connect to AppFlowy Cloud Beta at all.
Could you please confirm whether VPN IPs might cause upload/object storage blob lookup failures (e.g., “blob not found”)?
If so, do you have a recommended workaround (settings/region, allowlist, or an alternative import method)?

I just found that your workspace.zip is empty. It only includes one page inside.

(Optional context) Update AppFlowy and reinstall (local data was lost; only the backup zip remained).

Was the data deleted when you updated the application, or did you uninstall the application and then reinstall it?

Thanks! The data was lost because I cleared local data when I uninstalled the app (my mistake). I’ve created a new workspace and exported a fresh backup zip for testing. Also, I just found that switching my VPN to a Singapore node allows the workspace import to succeed normally.
Really appreciate your help!
