Hi @fangzheng0518 , if this is your first time using AppFlowy, then there isn't an existing AppFlowy folder you can read.
So you have to create a new folder or simply click on Quick Start
Please let me know if you have more questions.
I'll make this issue a UX improvement.

I have clicked on Quick Start and successfully run AppFlowy. Then I want to change a custom location, but when I click on the button, there is still no Finder window popping up.

I see.

  1. Double click the path under "Where your data is stored"
    image
  2. cmd + space and paste the path
  3. this will direct you to the flowy folder where your data is stored
  4. copy the flowy folder to the location where you'd like to place
  5. Use Open another folder to open it

Please let me know if it doesn't work for you. Thanks for reporting the issue ❤️

I followed your instructions to copy the file to another directory, and then clicked on Open another folder, but the Finder window still doesn't pop up

Ok, that doesn't sound good. We'll investigate.

I too couldn't change the default directory. Started the AppFlowy from terminal to see what's going on, this is what I get when I click to change the data folder:

Oct 10 14:25:47.487 ERROR ThreadId(06) dart_ffi:{"message":"Uncaught platform error"}
{"msg":"Uncaught platform error"}

Is there any progress? I'm using dwm as a window manager and facing the same issue. I would really like to give AppFlowy a try, but without being able to adjust the storage directory this is not an option.
