I've read the documentation.

Your Feature Request

It's a feature. I normally use subtitles to watch YouTube videos and the TA interface is quite good for that. But the thing is that when Plex plays the downloaded videos, it shows no subtitles and there's no simple way for me to download or embed them, which is a shame.

Describe the solution you'd like

The solution would be to download the subtitles as a file (via this plug-in or via TA) or to enable the possibility to embed subtitles on the TA interface. yt-dlp should support this just fine.

Additional context

I'm grateful for what you've done, it's enabled one of my dreams as a homelabber.

Your help is needed!

  • Yes, I will work on this in the next few days or weeks.

If you've already downloaded them with TA, it will automatically pull the subtitles into the interface. If there aren't any downloaded, then it won't be able to find them.

If you're having issues with this, then we can review the logs and confirm what the issue is that is occurring.

I don't really know what's the normal behaviour supposed to be of subtitles on videos downloaded by TA when they're watched on Plex.

I've taken these screenshots that show how the subtitles are not being shown on Plex, whilst being downloaded. They're available on the TA interface and they do work without an issue, but they're not shown on Plex and I don't really know if they're supposed to be added automatically, manually (but without too much effort) or painstakingly one by one after getting them from another source. (EDIT 2: I've erased the screenshots)

EDIT: I've gone into the folders where the files are dowloaded and seen that the subtitles files are downloaded, so I guess there must be a problem with my Plex settings. I will research a little bit more before posting again. Sorry for taking your time.

EDIT 2: For anyone having the problem I had, check whether you've enabled Local Media Assets on the Agents section of the settings. For me, that option was disabled by default.

It's something we've identified previously, but it should be added to the troubleshooting list. I'll add it to my next round of README updates.
